Vacuuming – Handmade wool rugs should be vacuumed regularly to remove dirt and restore life to the fibers. Be sure not to vacuum the fringe.

Spills – should you, or someone else, spill something on the rug, start by blotting the area to remove as much of the spill as possible. After blotting, take a wet rag and re-blot to remove any residue still left. If the spill is a dark liquid such as grape juice or red wine, blot the area as above and then raise the spill portion of the rug and run water through it, or continue to blot with a wet rag if raising the rug is not possible. Depending on the amount of traffic your rug experiences, professional washing is recommended every one to three years.
